The Right Way to Say Thank You

To send or not to send?

One can never go wrong with sending a handwritten thank you note. They are warm, personal, and show that you actually took time out of your day to write something out and drop it in the mail. I am a huge fan of this method of saying thank you. You put forth some effort, and it shows. But do you always have to send a handwritten note? Does a phone call ever suffice? What about an email? Here's the lowdown.  And you don't have to send us a thank you note for this advice.

A handwritten thank you is a must any time you receive a gift. Shower gift, wedding gift, congratulatory gift, condolence gift, etc. You get the picture.  A handwritten thank you note is also necessary when someone hosts a shower or party in your honor. Oh, and you have three months to get your thank you mailed. If you can, sit down that day to write it and get it in the mail. A phone call or email is a good way to immediately acknowledge  that you have received and appreciate the gift, but that call or email doesn't take the place of snail mail.

Now that we got that out of the way, I want to tell you about some of my favorite thank you stationery sources. For my local friends, The Polka Dot Press is my go to for personalized stationery. They are so helpful, friendly, and just purely fabulous. For shiny letters and fabulous quotes, I love Sugar Paper L.A. Love is actually an understatement. I am obsessed with Sugar Paper. And for a totally unique style that reflects you as a person, literally, I heart Ashley Brooke Designs. Basically, you can send Ashley a picture (you and your man, you and your dog, you at your desk, etc.) and she creates a custom illustration based on the picture. It's pure genius, and I love it.

So what are your thoughts on sending a thank you?
